October 2022 Sagittarius Overview Horoscope
Back on the scene! This October, the planets draw you back into the world, where you’re happiest being. Not only is the Sun in Libra and your social, group-oriented eleventh house until October 23, but we’ve done with September and its SIX retrograde (backward) planets. If it felt like reality sort of vanished into thin air for a month, you’ve got the wayward stars to blame. In October, three of those planets—communicator Mercury, transformational Pluto and structured Saturn—all correct course.
So get out of the house, hold court and collaborate. Got something to debut? Circle the Aries full moon on October 9, which blows up your fifth house of romance, passion and fame. Anything from a fiery fall fling to clicking cameras could emerge at this month’s full moon. Just watch your temper, as strong emotional reactions could also surface without notice!
Things take a decidedly more hushed tone on October 23, when the Sun sinks into Scorpio and your twelfth house of rest, closure and healing. This year’s Scorpio season also features a solar eclipse in this sign, a bold push to let go of something you’ve been holding onto…which is also holding you back. Endings, transitions and powerful portals will help usher you into the next phase of your growth. But there are some things (or people) that might not come along for the ride.
The end of the month is a busy time in the stars. Jupiter, your ruling planet, slides back into Pisces and your domestic fourth house from October 28 until December 20. A cozy rest of the year is ahead, and you may prefer to hunker down at home base until the end of 2022. After a busy and active year, you may welcome that! Take it easy on your inner circle, too: with combative Mars turning retrograde in Gemini from October 30 until January 12, you could be at odds with your partner or a close person.
Halloween decision time: stay in or go out? While the Sun, mental Mercury and outgoing Venus are all snoozing in Scorpio and your restful twelfth house, the moon’s in Aquarius and your social third house, beckoning you to check out happenings in your ‘hood or make the rounds at a few parties. You might be one of the earlier guests—but hey, you never know. Keep your wits about you and watch your intake if you partake of the “witches brew.” Even better? Bring a friend along to make sure you both have a safe, fun time.
Teamwork time! It’s Libra season until October 23
Gather with your crew, Archer. The Sun is in Libra and your eleventh house of group activity until October 23, the perfect three weeks to network, entertain and collaborate. Although you’re an independent sign by nature, you need people—and now is the time to put a few key players in place to support your mission. This is one of the most social times of the year for you, a possibly a favorite month because of it. There’s nothing most Archers love more than the company of their 50 (or 500) closest friends. A fruitful collaboration could take root this October.
Mercury retrograde ends on October 2
At last, your goals can gain traction. October 2 ends a stressful Mercury retrograde that began on September 9, disrupting technology, communication and travel plans.
Getting in sync hasn’t been easy for the past few weeks, as Mercury spent the bulk of its backspin in Libra and your teamwork zone. Friction with friends and colleagues may have flared. On September 23, Mercury backed into Virgo and your tenth house of career, causing misunderstandings and mixed signals at work. The tenth house also rules fathers and men, so this retrograde could have brought intense encounters with an important guy in your life.
Now that Mercury is direct (forward) and powering through your career zone until October 10, start making those decisive moves again. Just note that the lingering “retroshade” shadow phase will last until October 16. Things could take until then to fully settle back to normal.
Finances flow: Pluto retrograde ends on October 8
Have limiting beliefs surfaced and manifested in your life? Get ready for a shift, both of your mindset and your money. Controlling or micromanaging tendencies start to clear up on October 8, when calculating Pluto wakes up from a five-month retrograde in Capricorn and your second house of work and money.
Since April 29, the karmic planet has been reversing through this zone, driving up old fears and limiting beliefs that may have impacted your bottom line. From power struggles with coworkers to stressful money fluctuations, conditions haven’t always been favorable for you, Sag.
Your confidence may have taken a few hits during this cycle. Now, as Pluto returns to forward motion, you can regain a sense of power and get back into the financial driver’s seat. If you’ve been unsure about whether to work with someone or take on a project, Pluto’s course correction can help you make a clear decision.
Passion ignites! Aries full moon October 9
Lights, camera, Sag! On October 9, the year’s only Aries full moon lands in your fifth house of passion, love and self-expression. While this can be a breakthrough day for romance, strong emotions could boil up, and your reactions might be strong. Complicating matters, love planet Venus is opposing this full moon, making you run hot-and-cold. Maybe your “person” is the one giving weird mixed signals. Do your best not to lash out or do anything impulsive (admit it, you CAN go there…).
The Aries full moon can turn a simmering attraction into a full-on consummation. You’ve got the confidence to wear your heart on your sleeve today, and if everyone is willing to hear each other out calmly, this could mark a beautiful turning point that deepens your affections. (Again, heed that moon-Venus opposition warning, which can add a fickle note to the day.)
For Sagittarians of the childbearing set, the full moon in your fertile fifth house could bring pregnancy news. And every Archer could be ripe with creativity as la luna lights your colorful and artistic zone. A visit from the muse (if not the stork) can spark some divine downloads! If you’ve been busy working toward a big goal, as so many Archers have been, earmark this day for hedonistic fun: dancing, feasting or whatever “excess” you happen to desire. You’ve earned it!
Release: Scorpio season (October 23) and the Scorpio solar eclipse (October 25)
Power down starting October 23 when the Sun shifts into Scorpio and your twelfth house of rest and endings. For the next four weeks, the Sun’s low-lit position invites you to slip off the grid as much as possible for self-care and restorative activities. Shield your field if you step out into a crowd since you’re susceptible to absorbing everyone’s energy. Carry a grounding crystal, bring a wingperson and have a ready excuse if you need to depart early and get some shuteye!
Ready or not, you could be releasing something major before the end of the month. On October 25, eclipse season brings sweeping change to the world, starting with a Scorpio solar (new moon) eclipse. Have you been forcing an outcome? Is there something you need to let go of, in order to welcome a new chapter? Endings are beginnings, and this paradox is especially true when a new moon (which marks fresh starts) falls in your twelfth house of completion. As a potent eclipse, that message is even clearer.
If you’ve been swimming upstream, the Scorpio solar eclipse will present new pathways that involve a lot less struggle. Find a space of quiet within yourself. Journal, meditate, get an intuitive reading—and see what guidance comes. This new moon is exactly conjunct (together) with romantic, beautifying Venus, indicating that you could have a serene moment for self-care or deep spiritual connection with someone you love.
A challenging person, perhaps someone you’ve been in a lot of conflict with recently, may lay down their sword at last. Or you could see the (unsavory) true colors of a person you thought was an ally. Rather than cut them off abruptly, look at where YOU may have fueled this dynamic by being indirect or blurring boundaries. If people don’t know where you stand or what you expect, it’s hard for them to deliver the results you want. After all, they’re not mind readers! That said, don’t let anyone “gaslight” you here. If you’ve been clear about your limits and someone keeps violating them, this new moon reinforces your right to say “that’s not okay!”
Saturn retrograde ends on October 23
If you’ve got something to get off your chest or a big idea you’ve been dying to share, you’ll find the words to articulate your vision again starting October 23. Structured Saturn rouses from a four-and-a-half-month retrograde in Aquarius, activating your third house of communication and ideas. Since June 4, Saturn’s backspin may have left you tongue-tied or stymied around marketing your message. People may have been resistant to your ideas. Saturn’s slowdown helped you ponder the tough questions—and devise satisfactory answers for the decision makers.
Fear not, Sag: You haven’t lost your powers of persuasion! Saturn’s long tour, which started December 2020, has been helping you refine your message and communicate with an air of authority—without losing your playful edge.
As Saturn wraps its almost-final leg of its Aquarius journey between now and March 2023, you’re learning to dwell in that middle ground. Give people a fair chance to be your partners and collaborators before writing them off at their first fumble. Increase your tolerance for human error and, above all, talk it through! Everything is a negotiation; a conversation. Your sharp intuition might be able to read people like a flimsy paperback, but doing so may short-circuit the connection before you can establish trust and intimacy. Unless someone has actively betrayed you, give them a fair chance.
Jupiter retrograde backs into Pisces on October 28
Your ruling planet Jupiter normally stays in one sign for a solid 12 to 13 months. But for the past couple years, the red-spotted giant has been dancing back and forth between signs. Since May 2021, Jupiter’s had three trips through Pisces on the calendar, which have brought change and growth to your domestic fourth house. You may have moved, had a change of family members or focused more on your personal life.
This May 10, 2022, Jupiter leapt into Aries and your passionate, playful fifth house. Suddenly, you went from homebody to somebody, as this “lights, camera, action” energy put the spotlight on your talents. From a lusty romance to a creative surge, Jupiter in Aries has been a boon for your vibrant personality and big ideas.
Now, Jupiter will make one last trip through Pisces and your homey fourth house from October 28 to December 20. Take a small break from your wild adventures to connect with your core crew, spend time with family and enjoy some much-needed downtime at Chateau Archer. Fear not, this is temporary! From December 20 until May 16, Jupiter makes one last trip through Aries, and the party will be back in full swing again.
Pace yourself: Mars turns retrograde October 30
Get ready for an intimacy check-up—and tune-up. Your closest ties come under the microscope this October 30, as combative Mars turns retrograde until January 13, cooling its jets in Gemini and your partnership zone. If tension’s been building (or boiling) with certain companions, blame the red planet, which is making an extra-long trip through your dynamic duos zone from August 20, 2020, until March 25, 2021.
Over the next couple months, a partnership that’s been speeding along could simmer down. A tempting but troublesome ex could resurface. Issues that have gone unaddressed will need to be handled and squared away before you can move forward. Use this time proactively and take a little space if needed. Don’t force anyone to make a commitment or sign on the dotted line, even if you’re feeling anxious.
While it’s smart to think before speaking, be careful not to stuff down your feelings while Mars is muzzled. Otherwise, anger can turn inward, hurting you—or latent frustration can build up and explode. Hash things out diplomatically—with the intention of forging peace, not fanning the flames.
Be willing to look at your own role in any relationship breakdowns. Were you overly competitive or too quick to judge? Make amends and issue an overdue apology. Mars retrograde is your opportunity for a mea culpa. An important relationship can get back on track if you can put your ego aside.
